Book Talk Tuesday

This week we are linking up with Mrs. Jumps Class for Book Talk Tuesday.

Pumpkin Day, Pumpkin Night by Anne Rockwell is a sweet story about a young boy going to thhe farmer's market to pick out a pumpkin.

The story begins with the various signs of fall and how Jeffery knows it's pumpkin time.

Jeffery tells us what he is doing at school to celebrate pumpkin time

The day finally arrives.  Jeffery gets to go and pick out the perfect pumpkin.

After exploring all the various shapes, colours and sizes of pumpkins, Jeffery finally finds the perfect one.

Now it's time to carve the pumpkin.

This could be a great introduction on how to use procedural writing to write out the steps to carving a pumpkin.

Finally, the perfect pumpkin is carved and lighting up the night.

I love this book because it could be used in a variety of ways:

You can introduce the idea of going to a pumpkin patch with your class.

Talk about what are signs of fall.

Use it to introduce procedural writing on "how to carve a pumpkin"

Hopefully your students will enjoy it as much as ours did.

Happy pumpkin hunting everyone!
